My portraits are colorful explorations of the moment where I capture the light as it bounces off in a rainbow of color. To me, the light acts as a fluid, as if the light is being thrown on the subject with a bucket. I try to capture this idea of the flow of the light on the subject. This creates chaotic marks that don’t feel as if they resolve on their own up close, but when taking a step back it all seems to vibrate together in a finished piece. These marks are often informed from my studies of the impressionists and expressionists as they grasp for that moment of color.
